Floated Canvas
A deep seated canvas moulding with a bevelled face designed to let the canvas float within the frame. Layers of gesso are applied then coated with a coloured bole to leave a smooth surface to which the gold leaf is applied. The inside of the box is painted to highlight the edge of the canvas.
