Gilded box profile

This box is best for oils on deep stretcher bars which would stick out the back of most profiles. The canvas is flush with the top of the box with a 1/4 inch gutter around the edge of the canvas. Layers of gesso are applied then coated with a coloured bole to leave a smooth surface to which the gold leaf is applied. The inside of the box is painted to highlight the edge of the canvas and the sides of the box are painted a solid colour to match.
